We have a habit of finding our way back to Paris. And when we’re not there, we’re usually talking about when we can go next.
Until then, there’s La Buvette in Potts Point.
For us, Paris is solitude. It’s the history and the fashion, and slow July mornings spent in linen, with stone fruit on the table and a cafe latte beside it. It’s a city that seems to understand that a life should have meaning and purpose, and that good taste and impeccable style fits within that ambition.
Then, of course, there’s the food. Steak frites and French onion soup topped with melted gruyère. Nothing about it is complicated, and that’s the point. These are the simple pleasures done properly.
So what about when we’re not in Paris? We look for somewhere local that challenges our geographical state of mind. Somewhere with taste, in the design as much as on the plate, offering French delicacies and wines to match. A place where we can sit with friends and be immersed in the ambience.

This is where you’ll find us. Centred within the “Paris” end of Potts Point, on Challis Avenue, sits La Buvette.
The much loved neighbourhood wine bar has returned to its original address, this time with Sali, Nathan Sasi and Morgan McGlone of The Goodies Hospitality behind it. Inspired by the intimate bars of Paris, it’s exactly the sort of place we’d find ourselves.
And from the captured photographs, we can see why.
There are just nine bookable seats inside, with the rest spilling onto the pavement. Think aged timber, brass, deep red upholstery and soft lighting. It’s cosy, a little nostalgic and wonderfully French without trying too hard.
We love a beautiful interior almost as much as a beautiful outfit, so naturally, this one caught our eye.

The menu follows suit. Nathan and Morgan travelled to Paris for inspiration, bringing back ideas that now appear alongside the wine list. Comté custard gougères, oysters with Champagne granita, escargots in café de Paris butter and a little crème caramel to finish.
The sort of menu that makes ordering a few things for the table feel like the only sensible option.

La Buvette is firmly on our list this summer and no doubt the place to be. Preferably for an evening with no agenda, a good glass of wine and a table outside.
Until our next trip to Paris, we’ll happily settle for a little taste of it in Potts Point.
Dinner from 4pm, a corner of Potts Point that feels like the 6th arrondissement and a table with your name on it. Save the date!
